IKEABall, 2014

Presented during the “Tonight” series of performances at the Helsinki International Artist Program on Suomenlinna Island. Audience members are invited on to an athletic field at 3AM to participate in a game that involves a soccer ball and Scandinavian furniture on wheels.

 

This interactive performance piece works with the idea of a game and the opportunity to create alternative uses for mass-produced objects. Chairs being inverted and mounted on wheels become weapons and defensive objects. People offered the opportunity to aggressively compete with house hold objects become participants in a dynamic performance of re-contextualized furniture.
